Lygus Bug (Lygocoris inconspicuous)
Treatment Plan
Research in New York State has shown that Lygus Bug can cause economic damage to grapevines at a threshold of one nymph per 10 shoots. Damage can be sporadic throughout the vineyard and infestations often occur only at vineyard edges near wood or hedgerows. Typically, only one insecticide application per season is needed, and only when the treatment threshold has been reached. Refer to action plan for control of Banded Grape Bug. Neither Assail nor Carbaryl is specifically labelled for use in controlling Lygus Bug in New York State. Observe state restrictions when applying Carbaryl or Assail for control of Lygus Bug and other insect pests.
