Thomcord grapes are highly productive, producing large clusters of medium-sized, blue-black berries with adherent skin, unlike Concord grapes. The aromatic Labrusca flavor is similar to Concord but mellower, making Thomcord a popular choice for fresh eating. Originating from a cross between Thompson Seedless and Concord, this mid-season variety was released in 2003 by the USDA-ARS in California.
Thomcord grapes grow in USDA hardiness zones 5-12, with a trailing growth habit and medium vigor. They are ideally suited for the Modified Munson training system, with a suggested planting distance of 6-8 feet between vines.
